I have been with Rich since January 2001 following some rather serious Surgery – I have trained with Rich ever since (3 or 4 times a week) and during this time have run several marathons and biked in rides of 200 miles – the workouts with Rich are strenuous but have kept me in good shape – I can’t say I look forward to the workouts but am very glad I do them (of course when the session ends) My time with Rich has clearly helped me physically and mentally especially considering my rather advanced age.

I have been fortunate to have been training with Rich for about six years. I try to work out with Rich at least twice per week, usually in the middle of the day, and I find that I am most productive at the office on the days I work out. Rich’s work out regimen has resulted in my back, which used to give me problems, feeling better than ever. Although I have always been active, I did only cardio work outs before starting with Rich, and I highly recommend a regimen of weight training combined with cardio training. Rich’s positive demeanor also makes the sessions something to look forward to.

First, Rich was highly recommended which is fortunate since his gym was in the same complex where I lived. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, he moved – although nearby. While convenience was a factor, his willingness to meet me at 5:00 a.m. was also important—always willing to do anything for a client.
My training with Rich began at a time when I was having difficulty with my hip, and a few months later, I had replacement. Rich guided me through rehab and continues to build strength in my hip and legs—important because of my work with The Wilderness Society—many, many hikes.
In large measure because of Rich’s work, I was able to hike a couple of miles within four months of surgery and 10 miles within 8 months and now regularly doing 10-12 mile hikes with absolutely no residual problem.

As a long-time runner (including several marathons), I considered myself to be in good shape. At my wife’s prompting, I tried a few sessions with Rich. Once I got started, my overall strength, endurance, and body tone improved dramatically. Rich knows how to work me hard, but still make out sessions manageable, varied, and fun.

Rich Salke is, by far, the best trainer in the city. He delivers the complete package. No matter whether you want to compete or just get buff, his knowledge of exercise physiology plus diet and nutrition will help you get there. He is also a great motivator, which makes the training I have done with him both perpetually challenging and enjoyable. In the years I’ve worked with him, he has helped me make appreciable gains in both size and symmetry, and has kept me totally free of injury. I wouldn’t think of preparing for a competition without his astute guidance.

My training sessions are a written “in ink” in my schedule…not to be missed. It is the one time in the week I know I am doing something for me, something to hold back the dikes of the aging process. Rich doesn’t take “No” for an answer and whether it is lunge walks or lifting he cheers me through it all. He knows his stuff.

He motivates you to push yourself in every workout, and because of that, the routine never gets old. Instead of getting sore after every workout, I feel my muscles getting toned, and my mind more energized. I have tried many other work out types (group classes, gym membership, dance classes, hot yoga, even Pilates on video!), but I am convinced that working out with Rich is the only way for me to stay fit mentally and physically.
